11th Annual Golf Classic Tournamnet: Recap The Alzheimer Society of York Region's 11th Annual Golf Classic was held on Thursday, August 14th, 2008, at the Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham. Coffee Break Campaign - September The 13th annual Alzheimer Coffee Break will take place from coast to coast in September, kicking off on Thursday Sept. 18, 2008. Coffee Break is the Alzheimer Society's major annual fundraiser where friends, co-workers and customers gather in communities across Canada to raise funds for local Alzheimer Societies. The English site is hosted at www.alzheimercoffeebreak.ca and the French site is hosted at www.pausecafealzheimer.ca. Participants at these events make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. The money raised stays in the community to help support local programs and services. Host a group of any size in your home, place of work or any regular meeting for a cup of coffee to support Alzheimer Coffee Break and we will supply you with brochures and a coin box if you wish. If you prefer, you can celebrate any way you like by hosting a barbeque, potluck, or anything that pleases you. Just ask everyone who joins you to make a donation. Support and promote Alzheimer Coffee Break at your retail business or workplace encouraging people to "Make a Donation and Sign a Cup". We will supply coffee cup decals which you can display. Alzheimer's knows no boundaries and this event provides an excellent opportunity for everyone to feel part of a Canada wide and in fact world wide activity as we recognize the devastating affect this disease has on individuals and their loved ones. This program has been gaining momentum but we want to expand it even more in York Region this year. A Night to Remember - September 26th, 2008 A Gala Dinner Dance in support of the Alzheimer Society of York Region and Alzheimer research is taking place on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Venetian Banquet Centre, 219 Romania Drive in Concord, Ontario. The Gala is dedicated to the memory of Hryhorij and Ida Semenchuk. The schedule is as follows: Antipasto Bar at 6:00 p.m. - Dinner at 7:30 p.m. - Dress: Semi-Formal Tickets are $125.00 per person including Deluxe Bar, door prizes and a Silent Auction.
